Get to know Principal Harvey!
My name is Miriam Harvey, and I am thrilled to be the principal of East Elementary School. I began my career teaching business courses and as the Dean of Students at Hunter Huss High School in Gastonia, NC. I spent three years as an assistant principal at both Crest High School and Graham Elementary School.I am originally from West Palm Beach, FL. I earned a B.A. in Business Management from the University of Phoenix and a Master’s Degree in School Leadership from Grand Canyon University.
I have two sons; Rae and Marion. Rae is a graduate of Western Carolina University where he earned a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Communications. Marion is a graduate of UNCG (University of North Carolina at Greensboro) and earned a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Management with a minor in Sociology.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, attending church, skating, and singing with my sisters (Bessie and Angela).
As a reminder to myself and others I always say: "Always strive for greatness, never give up, and never doubt yourself because there is greatness inside of you."
For trusting us with your children we are grateful, for entrusting us with their future we are thankful. Their future concerns are our present responsibility, which we take very seriously here at East Elementary.
